Everything was normal for Sapphira that night, except for the thunderstorm rolling in. She was pretty happy under all the flashing lights and the sounds of happy gamblers. All of the sudden, the lights went out.
Screams ripped through the air as lightning crashed down. Terror threatened to overwhelm Sapphira, but she managed to calm herself down somehow. The first thought in her head was to find either Alton or Drake, either one of them could comfort her. But she had to find them without tripping over anyone or running into a wall.
She set off towards the direction from where Drake first led her to his room, failing to step neatly over a cat who was sprawled on the floor. Her ears laid back against her head to keep out his stupid wails. Soon after, she stumbled onto some broken glass, crying out as the shards punctured her paws. She bit her tongue to hold back a yowl and kept moving on, trying to find Drake's room.
The pitch blackness of the room blinded her senses, causing her to trip more to her dislike. She finally made it into a dark hallway where it was quiet enough for her to focus. Lightning flashed again, lighting up the windows. She heard a yowl nearby, hoping it was Drake's, and ran towards a door. Not thinking straight, she collided headfirst into the door and fell onto the floor, knocked out cold.
